James Gowen
Vice President – Supply Chain Operations & Chief Sustainability Officer, Verizon Services Operations
Jim Gowen holds the complementary roles of vice president of Supply Chain Operations and chief sustainability officer for Verizon, a dual responsibility he was appointed to in September 2009.
Gowen leads Verizon’s global customer premises equipment program with responsibility for more than $2.5 billion in annual through-put and half a billion dollars in annual inventory. He oversees critical Verizon customer premises equipment initiatives, including FiOS and Verizon’s growing Home Control and Monitoring business line.
As Verizon’s chief sustainability officer, Gowen is responsible for setting the direction for growing the business responsibly with a focus on reducing its carbon footprint. He and his team work with vendors and business partners to drive efficiency into the supply chain, and develop and drive initiatives being implemented across Verizon to ensure its company operations and its products and services reduce C02 emissions.
In his sustainability role, Gowen is a member of the Penn State Advisory Board’s Sustainability Council. He earned a master’s degree in business administration from Long Island University and his bachelor’s degree from Manhattanville College. He is located at Verizon Center in Basking Ridge, New Jersey.
